Comparison of Antigenemia and Quantitative DNA Assay in Cytomegalovirus Disease

Description
Summary:It was aimed to compare the results of the antigenemia test (Cinakit, Biosoft-Argene, Fransa) and the quantitative CMV DNA polymerase chain reaction test (Cobas Amplicor CMV Monitor Test, Roche Diagnostics, ABD) which are used in the diagnosis of CMV disease. Thirty leukocyte and plasma samples of 11 patients who admitted to the laboratory for antigenemia assay with clinical suspicion of CMV disease were included in the study. There was a mild correlation between antigenemia assay and leukocyte/plasma DNA results while this correlation was stronger between leukocyte and plasma DNA results that were obtained with the same system. As a conclusion, all three assays can be used in the diagnosis of CMV disease but at patient follow up, same test and clinical sample should be chosen.
