Summary: | The study was conducted on a sample of 349 millennials (generation «Y») and baby boomers. The main methods were the author’s questionnaire of social ideas about relationships and marriage, the questionnaire «Role expectations and claims in marriage» (ROP) by A.N. Volkova, a questionnaire of attitudes towards the registered marriage, a block of socio-demographic characteristics. The results suggest that there are no significant differences in the moral component of the ideas of the two generational cohorts. The peculiarity of the Millennial positions lies in the more rigid dependence of the desire to get married on their financial situation, a weaker orientation toward childbearing and parenting, a pronounced desire for professional accomplishments (for girls) and greater relaxedness in sexual life. The prospects for further research are outlined.
