Summary: | The article presents the formation of a communalist alternative to the nation-state in « Rojava » in northern Syria. This experience has emerged from the political paradigm shift of the historic Kurdish People's Liberation Party, PKK, initiated by its leader Abdullah Öcalan. « Democratic confederalism » was implemented on a large scale from 2012 onwards in the framework of the Social Contract the Democratic Federation of Northern Syria. The article explains how the development of popular democratic participation and feminist emancipation became the thousands of the Kurdish revolution. |
