Summary: | No one would ever dream of accusing Bernart de Ventadorn of the indelicacy typical of Guillaume IX. Nonetheless, although this Fra Angelico of medieval lyricism never trespasses the limits of a most delicate reserve, it is evident that the quality of his desire had yet to attain the more non-carnal passion of a Dante. Bernart does not seek to meet his domna in Paradiso; her private chamber is heaven enough for him.
