Description
Summary:This paper aims to articulate the issues related to fictions with the wider field of design, by way of using the concept of transmedia. Design productions can be fueled by the fictional pool formed by films and TV series, yet they also partake, in turn, of the world’s fictionalization process. Rather than strictly opposing « reality » and « fiction », we offer to understand reality as being inherently intertwined with the fictions that exponentially multiply in a transmedia context. Using Rancière’s concept of « fictions consenties » (2008), we will underline the designer’s responsability towards the fictions he/she works to create, thus exposing the conditions on which transmedia design can emerge, and what political issues underlie this convergence.
