Summary: | Shoot tip explants of Friederick's Dendrobium Orchid (Dendrobium friedericksianum Rchb.f) were cultured on solidified Murashing and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with various types of sugar, agarand various concentrations of 2,4-dichorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) and thidiazuron (TDZ). The pH of medium was adjusted to 5.7 before autoclaving. The medium supplemented with 1 mg/l 2,4-D and 2 mg/lTDZ provided the highest percentage of protocorm-like bodies (PLBs) (51%), and PLB-produced shoots (PLB-PS) (3%). The combination of 1 mg/l 2,4-D and 1.5 mg/l TDZ gave 47% PLB formation and 2% PLBPS.A 3% sucrose resulted in the highest number of PLBs at 51.21%. Phytagel at concentration of 0.17%gave the highest percentage of PLBs (51.65% )
