Methods: A total of 112 patients with end-stage renal disease who received maintenance hemodialysis in our hospital between July 2012 and February 2016 were chosen and divided into control group (n=56) and observation group (n=56) according to random number table. The control group were treated with routine maintenance hemodialysis, and the observation group were treated with MHD plus reduced glutathione therapy. Serum contents of oxidative stress indexes and inflammation indexes were compared between two groups of patients before and after treatment. Results: Before the intervention, differences in serum levels of oxidation indexes/anti-oxidation indexes as well as pro-inflammatory indexes/anti-inflammatory indexes were not statistically significant between two groups of patients. After intervention, serum oxidation indexes MDA and AOPP levels of observation group were lower than those of control group, anti-oxidation indexes GSH-Px, T-AOC and SOD levels were higher than those of control group, proinflammatory indexes IL-1β, IL-6 and IL-2 levels were lower than those of control group, and anti-inflammatory indexes IL-8 and IL-13 levels were higher than those of control group. Conclusion: Adjuvant reduced glutathione therapy helps to maintain the oxidative/antioxidant as well as pro-inflammatory/anti-inflammatory balance in patients with maintenance hemodialysis, and relatively reduce the oxidative stress and inflammation.http://www.hnykdxxb.com/PDF/201710/10.pdfMaintenance hemodialysis Reduced glutathione Oxidative stress Inflammation
