Description
Summary:Since their discovery in 1866, the Solutré excavations have produced rich collections of artefacts from man of the Upper Palaeolithic (35 000 – 10 000 BC). The departmental Museum of Prehistory, built in the immediate vicinity of the archaeological excavation area, present the artefacts recovered from the prehistoric site. The neighbouring landscape, particularly the rock of Solutré, explains the artefacts presence below the rock and the museum architecture.
