| Summary: | End 2012, Mexico carried out a reform of the federal labor law. The notion of « decent work » adopted was able to obtain political conscensus, while taking into account such values such as « welfare » and « healthcare » in a society distorted by huge inequalities. This reform undoubtedly represents a challenge to the articulation between democratization and competitiveness. However, the concrete means provided by this reform concerning the recognition of workers’ rights should be questioned: what kind of model of competitiveness may allow such an ambitious project? What kind of production model – individual or collective – is capable of institutionalizing this reform? What kind of approaches are needed to build a society based on dignity, solidarity and altruism? Our thesis is based on an understanding of the federal labour law reform in terms of individualization of wage labour and of rationalization of workers’ subjectivity. According to our observation, the emergence of a new financiarized production model has a direct impact on the deregulation of workers’ vested rights and benefits.
