Summary: | The city of Mieres is a urban component of the metropolitan area of Asturias. It grew up with the first industrialization, and reached its ceiling in 1970. The crisis of its productive bases has not been balanced by the restructuring of the system, marked by two processes that feedback: social devitalization and physical decapitalization. Their joint action configures the current phase, urban shrinkage. The proactive value to guide the action is based on integrated urban regeneration, while some requalification actions are made based on the financial resources obtained by a project prepared with this same perspective. |
