For a subject to be a victim, a judgment has to be made by the person who has suffered damage or by a third party who has observed the condition of the subject in question. This judgment takes two things into consideration: the state of the injured person and the nature of the process that caused the damage. We will begin by studying the state of the person considered as a victim. This state is called: victimhood state. We will then concentrate on the nature of this process, which will be called: victimization discourse. In both cases, we are dealing with a subjective attitude, that is to say, the relationship that the subject maintains with respect to the aggression or to the damage suffered, in other words his/her relationship to suffering. We will therefore be led to recall the issue of the emotion on which the victim judgment depends, as a combination of affect and reason.http://journals.openedition.org/aad/3408emotionfearpathemic topicvictim statevictimization discourse |
