Music culture competences have to be maintained and enhanced via individual and institutional teacher training. The paper focuses on the question of individual professional training of the teachers in the field of music culture and discusses the importance of this type of advanced teacher training for maintaining and improving their competences. The aim of the research was to see how teachers improve their competences individually and which forms of improvement they use. The poll included 411 teachers from schools in central Serbia. The results show that one third of the examinees do not practice any individual forms of advance study. Those teachers who try to improve their competences do so by consulting colleagues and practicing playing instruments.http://scindeks-clanci.ceon.rs/data/pdf/0547-3330/2015/0547-33301503521S.pdfteachercompetenciesadvance individual teacher trainingmusic culture
