Summary: | This article, linked to the research project Language in the Constitution of the Educator being developed at the Federal University of Lavras, discusses identity transformations and additional language learning as an effect of an exchange
experience in Uruguay. The data, narratives in a written questionnaire and an oral interview, are analyzed from the theoretical perspective of identity (Hall, 2005; Bauman, 2005; Silva, 2000; Block, 2007); the relationship between culture and
language (Tilio, 2007; Kramsch, 1998) and learning of additional languages (Lightbown and Spada, 1993) e (Lantolf e Thorne, 2006). The data analysis shows how this experience has changed the author's prospects for future professional activities, revealing new views of society, as well as identifying strategies that
facilitate the learning of an additional language in a natural context. |
