Summary:The article is a personal testimony of the international semiotic movement from the viewpoint of the experiences of the author from his student time to his role as a scholar, teacher et organizer of this discipline. He tell about his wandering years from Helsinki to Paris, Brazil and the United States through congresses, publishing projects, and local and international administration. He provides documents of his acquaintaces with classical semioticians such as Lévi-Strauss, Greimas, Sebeok and Lotman. He likewise discusses the future of semiotics in our global time.
