Summary:This article presents the trajectory of a researcher in the study of the history of teacher formation in Provincial Paran á (1853-1889 ). lt takes in consideration the sources and compares official sources from the legislation and the Presidential reports of Paraná to the letters that contain the reports of teachers. Those reports are considered as testemonies provided by the masters as they report on school organization preference for certain methods, concept of education the relation between teacher and student, as well as the problems faced by teachers. The argumentation is based on Savia ni, lanni, Bloch Le Goff, Wachowicz, Westephalen Balhana, Machado, Vi/lela, Vidal, among others, and also makes use of documental sources. As a testimony. it aims to contribute with those who intend to start in historical research.
