Description
Summary:This paper analyzes the constitution of martensite volume fraction, that is, the size-distribution of martensite units in quenched-transformed austenite in the microstructure. We correlate this distribution to the martensite shape-strain relaxation. The modes of relaxation athermal/auto-accommodation or thermal-activated dislocation mobility and the sequential formation of the martensite units control the variation of the mean martensite unit volume as well as the uniformity of the transformation.
