Penicillin and Eritromycin Susceptibility of Group A Beta- Haemolytic Streptococci Isolated From Throat Cultures

In this study we aimed to evaluate the antibiotic susceptibility of group A beta-haemolytic streptococcus isolated from throat cultures of the patients with diagnosis of acute tonsillopharyngitis. A total of 334 throat specimens collected between February 2006-June 2006 and 75 of them identified as...

Description
Summary:In this study we aimed to evaluate the antibiotic susceptibility of group A beta-haemolytic streptococcus isolated from throat cultures of the patients with diagnosis of acute tonsillopharyngitis. A total of 334 throat specimens collected between February 2006-June 2006 and 75 of them identified as group A beta-haemolytic streptococcus. The susceptibility of these isolates were inspected by Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion method. All the strains were susceptible to penicillin, but 8% resistance was detected to eritromycin.
