Description
Summary:
In this paper we try to identify the characteristics of an Ecosystem of Social and Solidarity Economy at the local level, particularly in the Autonomous Basque Community in Spain.

ESS Local Ecosystems can be described as an alternative way of developing the economic action, focusing on the welfare of the individual from a multidimensional perspective and aligned with the values of ESS.

Starting from a theoretical revision of the literature, we have analysed through semi-structured interviews the way in which these characteristics occur in different types ESS entities in the Basque Country.

Finally, a data production instrument on the characteristics of an Ecosystem has been contrasted.

The results show that, although it is a first approach, the ecosystem is an incipient reality, capable of generating capacities in its members and its territorial environment.
