Description
Summary:Lately, cinematographic criticism in Spain has been a subject of debate in several forums such as film festivals, special issues in magazines, social networks or university masters. One of the reasons for this growing interest in the study of criticism is the widespread perception that it undergoes both a crisis and a revitalization fostered by the rise of digital media, internet and social networking. In our opinion, the real crisis of criticism is related neither to the transition from an analogue paradigm to a digital one, nor to the rise of amateurism or social insecurity in traditional media. The problem with digital criticism is that it has stopped critically reviewing certain films and filmmakers that are far removed from Aristotle’s Poetics. Our text delves into the consequences and the effects that the lack of evaluation of post-cinematographic and post-narrative works has in digital criticism.
