| Summary: | The article deals with one of the main notions of lexicography - glossary. Basing on the data from various lexicographical sources, the author gives different definitions of the word. The author also analyzes several approaches of leading scientists to understand the essence of the concept glossary. With the help of explanatory and terminological dictionaries, the main features of glossary are explained. The study shows that any dictionary, depending on words composition type, is compiled differently. When selecting the units to include in the vocabulary the compiler should consider the purpose and objectives of the dictionary. |
