Description
Summary:This work aims at discussing the distancing that exists in Brazil between the literary canons and the school canons of the so-called literature for the youth, based on the data that highlights the frailty of school reading process as well as the elitization of the literature in a closed symbolic field, resulting in the formation of non-literary readers. The "emotional" reception of young readers lacking literary awareness and the "pedagogical" willingness of their teachers are opposed by the possibility of adding to the school reading practice the "strangeness" and other intellectual exercises related to the interlocution with the canonical literature, which has been put aside in school specially due to the radicalization of cultural studies and their repudiation towards aesthetic canons.
