The characteristics of production and trade of certain agricultural and food products in the world and the Republic of Serbia

The aim of this paper is to show the movement of production and trade (exports and imports) of some major agrifood products in the world and in our country. The paper represents the countries that are the largest producers (top five in the world) and largest exporters / importers of the given goods. In addition to that, data shows percentages of the mentioned countries in world production, imports/exports, as well as production per capita. Also, ten most significant agricultural products that are made in the Republic of Serbia are presented. Data analysis included the period of 2009-2013 (five-year averages). Data sources used in the analysis are statistical database of FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations), and the publication of the Statistical Office of Serbia (Press Bulletin and agricultural statistics and foreign trade).
