Summary: | Nutritional osteopathy in indoors calves fed with high wheat bran content diets. Osteopathies with general symptoms are described in a batch of 4 to 6 months old indoors Friesian calves fed with high wheat bran content diets. Following blood and feedstuffs analysis the conditions was considered to be due to calcium, vitamin D and vitamin A deficiency. Treatment based on correction of the ration, injection of vitamin A and D solutions and turning out of the calves into a sunny yard proved successfull in relieving general symptoms after one month. This condition is rather common in Morocco although it occurs mainly a less acute form because of the general use of high wheat bran content rations in growing calf nutrition. |
