Description
Summary:On 24 November 2013, a referendum was held in the Canton of Jura and in the region known as Jura bernois or Southern Jura (both in Switzerland), in the framework of the political agreements for the solution of the question jurassianne. The use of mechanisms of direct democracy, territorial autonomy or institutional partnership in the Jura region offers an interesting model of comparison for the managements of other territorial conflicts in other European countries. The specificity of the Swiss political system contextualizes the peaceful and consensus-based management of the jurasian conflict, but it does not exclude that consequences or analysis that may interest to other institutional frameworks maybe obtained. In particular, it could be fruitful to promote in Spain a process of administrative reorganization at the local level, on a consensus basis, to modify some provincial limits with the direct participation of the populations concerned.
