Summary:By means of the biography of Castelló Tárrega, director of the newspaper Heraldo de Costellón, the current study attempts to understand the evolution of democratic liberalism in Castellon Province. Castelló Tárrega's political attitude begins in republicanism, but later evolves to the acceptance of dynastic politics, exemplified by his acceptance of José Canalejas' leadership. In his political life we can observe both the virtues of the Restoration, and its limits.
