Description
Summary:The number of babies born before the 37th week of pregnancy is steadily increasing worldwide. Thanks to high-quality medical care, the number of extremely premature babies in the Czech Republic has been increasing in recent decades. This group of infants is at higher risk of developing cerebral palsy. Until the turn of the century, most of the published papers focused on how to ensure an infant's survival. Currently, the focus of interest is also shifting to the issue of ensuring the highest quality of neurodevelopmental care. In the last decade, the range of rehabilitation methods has expanded significantly. The current trend is to develop a child's neuroplasticity by motivating the child to engage in active play, repeating this activity and to consolidate a certain skill (task-specific practice) in an enriched environment.
