Description
Summary:This paper presents two objectives. Firstly, it proposes to show that there is no evidence of the existence of the Battle of Roda, which according to some historians was fought between Almanzor and Christian troops in 984. An error in dates in the Anales de Cardeña seems to have misled researchers. Secondly, it proposes to locate the Castillo de San Martín, which was attacked in 1007 by Abd al-Malik, son of Almanzor, during his sixth campaign. It has been claimed that the attack took place in San Martín de Rubiales, in Burgos. From the study of documentary sources and the context, I am inclined to believe that the place in question was in fact São Martinho de Mouros, Council of Resende, Viseu, Portugal.
