The article deals with an aspects of building a system of objective evaluation of information from social networks in study of regional development issues; study of the effect of social networks content on individuals and social groups; role of information-analytical department of libraries in these processes. Named departments use social networks as a tool, that, appropriately approached to analysis and filtering of information disseminated by them, gives the ability to make reliable conclusions and generalizations about various aspects of social life, neutralizing speculative and promotional side of media content.
