Description
Summary:Isolation of Penicilium fungi in 1391 cases confirmed their presence on and pathogenicity to apples and pears. Four species were the cause of rotting of the fruits: P. expansum, P. diversum, P. cyclopium and P. spinulosum. All those species may occur separately or coexist in the mould spots. P. expansum spores may infect fruit with injured skin, only if they have an additional source of sugar and nitrogen.
