Description
Summary:The book of Ivanov’s memoir prose “Petersburg winters” from the time of publication evoked ambiguous assessments of contemporaries, critics and literary critics. Until now, the genre and composition features of the collection have not been clarified, which will be the goal of the article being presented. In the course of the study, the following features of G. Ivanov’s memoir prose were noted: the impressionistic nature of the narrative, which determines the associative type of narration, and not strictly factual. The collection is a lyrical prose of the poet. Underlined reflexion in the presentation of material, its exaggerated arbitrariness. The theme of memory and its limits is a structure-forming for the whole narrative. The author pays special attention to the image of “fog”, symbolic for the memoirist G. Ivanov, as a metaphorical expression of the motive of the path and destiny in the culture of emigration.
