In this paper I point out some steps of the transformation of German political debate about Europe. I also pose the question how it was possible that, over the last years, a generally critical and cosmopolitan public sphere like the German developed a narrow and populist narrative of the euro crisis in the main media.http://journals.openedition.org/qds/285
