Summary: | The Journal des savans d’Italie was published in Germany in 1748-1749 by the medical and scholar bolognese Giovanni Ludovico Bianconi (1717-1781). It was written in French and proposed some reviews of books published in Italy, in order to divulge Italian culture in Europe. Bianconi belonged to the group of enlightened catholics influenced by the thought of Ludovico Antonio Muratori. By his journal he intended to get over the age of the Counter-reformation and to promote the renewal of the exchanges between Italian culture and Europe, but he remained always faithful to the Papacy and his ideas were very moderate, not connected with the world of the enlightenment.
