Summary: | The article presents the results of an empirical study that looks into correlations between the stress resistance and person’s behavioral self-regulation styles subjected to individual perception of time. It is revealed that the psychological characteristics of stress tolerance between slow, punctual and hasty personality types are different. The peculiarities of slow personality types are defined by high level of stress resistance, low level of competence in time, prevailing self-regulation of “Modeling” behavior, dominating psychological “Repression” defense. The peculiarities of punctual personality types are determined by average level of stress resistance, high level of competence in time, lack of time on “Setting goals” scale and low intensity of psychological defenses. The peculiarities of hasty personality types are characterized by average level of stress resistance and competence in time, prevailing psychological defenses such as “Projection”, “Overcompensation”, “Rationalization”, “Denial”, “Substitution” and dominating “Accepting responsibility” coping strategy. The results of correlation analysis show that there are strong correlations between the level of stress-resistance and particular types of psychological defenses, between coping strategies and dynamic self-regulation of behavior in a group in slow personality types, that there weak correlations in a group in punctual personality types and lack of previously mentioned correlations in hasty personality types. Consistent to earlier research the study supported the hypothesis concerning dynamic correlation models between stress resistance and individual perception of time. These findings can help predict personal sensitivity to stress and raise psychological resistance in stressful situations depending on personality types in time perspective.
