Description
Summary:The problem of the urban informal sector has been widely debated in recent years. The present article takes that debate as its starting point, and focuses on the approach of PREALC and the regulator, but argues that both are questioned by the changes occurring with the new model of accumulation emerging within the framework of globalization. In view of this, the author attempts an outline of the scenarios of what he calls the new informal sector: the economy of poverty, the subordination of informal activities to the sector of marketing through subcontracting or input supply, and the agglomeration of small dynamic businesses.
