| Summary: | <p>In the situation of a radical change in the social life we need the new approaches, which take into account the transformation of modern society, including those associated with the study of the informational culture level.</p><p>For diagnostic reference level of formation of information culture of the Far Eastern students the following functional indicators developed by G.M. Klimenko were used: information activity, willingness to informational communication, informational style of thinking, technological readiness, emotional and ideological activity of the individual. We conducted questionnaire survey of students of different specialties of the Eastern State Transport University and the Pacific State University.</p><p>According to evaluation of the informational culture of Khabarovsk students’ informative style of thinking and emotional activity are developed in a less degree.</p><p>To change the situation it is important to teach students analytical and synthetic methods of information processing actively, a harmonious combination of algorithmic and reflective types of thinking, quickly and correctly assess new information, develop learned behavior of mental health and protection from information noise. </p><p><strong><strong>DOI: <a href="http://dx.doi.org/10.12731/2218-7405-2013-3-15">http://dx.doi.org/10.12731/2218-7405-2013-3-15</a></strong></strong></p>
