Summary: | Spanish main journals, such as El País, have framed the subprime financial crisis through the “natural disaster metaphor”, identifying the survival of the private banks with the common good. The use of public funding for private bailouts was presented as a nonideological technical solution, extern to political discussions. Nevertheless, having a look at the hegemonic narratives in the Twitter digital agora, we find a very different kind of constructions, much closer to the alternative discourses from minor journals, criticizing the bailout politics. |
