Description
Summary:Factors of degradation of the oases space in the province of Guelmim: South West marcoain. The province of Guelmim has thirteen oases. The city of Guelmim was originally an oasis before becoming a city received nomads and tribes from nearby areas and the rural world. These oases are on old caravan and commercial roads, in which the different African and Mediterranean flows flowed. These constraints are: The drying up of the water resource, Bayoud disease, which causes the death of date palms in North Africa, and which has decimated two-thirds of the Moroccan palm grove in the last century. Urbanization also has consequences for oases life, as inhabited areas (douars) tend to encroach on cultivated areas (palm groves), which creates competition and additional pressure for water and the increase of extreme weather events (progressive desertification of land, floods and droughts). The crisis of these oases is therefore multiple: ecological, economic, social, and land. This study consists in studying the causes and consequences of degradation of the oases space of Guelmim. These natural and socio-economic constraints are handicaps to the development of these oases.
