Description
Summary:Modelling of glucose oxidation in a Verlifluid type reactor with a three phase fluidized bed. The catalytic oxidation of glucose gives rise to gluconic acid as well as other acids. This oxidation is assayed in a three-phase gas-liquid-solid fluidized bed. The alumina solid particles serving as support to the platinum catalyst are fluidized by an aqueous solution of glucose and by a co-current air flow. By modelling the reaction in the device it was found that the reactor performances are limited by the internal diffusional resistance.
