Description
Summary:« Data » is often reduced to the information gathered during the research process although they are the result of complex relational dynamics. This dossier brings together a sample of reflections conducted on this topic during the 9th Summer University of ReDoc (Réseau international d'écoles doctorales en sociologie/sciences sociales de l'Association internationale des sociologues de langue française) that took place at the University of Ottawa in 2018. The debates focused on the social dynamics that guide the knowledge production process using social mediations as a core analytical concept. This concept relates both to the relations between the observer and observed and to the mediations that mark the different steps of the research process, from the conceptualization of the research object to the fieldwork and data analysis. Hence, it allows researchers to cast a critical lens on knowledge and discourse (re)production.
