Description
Summary:This article tries to point out the validity and the importance of the use of three dimensional models in Architecture as a profession. This fact is confirmed, in spite of the evolution of representation techniques, especially those made with new technologies. Important modern day studios continue making models for every creative and representative process. Besides, we want to prove the current validity of the model in other circles, such as exhibitions and architectural competitions, where three dimensions are a fundamental requirement. The main objective in this text is to prove that three dimensional models are fundamental as a restitution value of lost architectures. An example of this is the construction of a model for the restitution of the Citadel of Arg-é-Bam in Iran, after the earthquake that completely devastated the city at the end of 2003. The interest of this model is to show the typology of walled cities in the desert and Bam is one of the most relevant examples. Therefore, the model was built in a way which explains the typology. We use the same material; clay because the city was built with it, emphasizing its fidelity regarding the citadel. In conclusion we intend to add a three dimensional aid, therefore making the documentation sent to Iran clearer and more understandable, in order to help in the reconstruction of the lost Citadel.
