Summary:The research tends to focus on the role of domestic political, legal, social and economic institutions in creating an environment conductive to SME's development. Preliminary findings have shown that trends for optimists' share vary very much among different GEM participating countries. Model describes how early-stage entrepreneurial activity level depends on the share of adult population's optimism and that determines crosscountries differences in the context of early-stage entrepreneurial activity level.
