Behind the canvas of the «Russian spy poisoning» case that had triggered a new crisis in Russia-West relations there appears a plethora of aspects and goals: short- and longterm, domestic and foreign policy ones – of the UK, US and the West. One of the aspects is related to the Trident modernization programme and the rise in UK defence spending, another – with unsubstantiated allegations of Russian cyber-attacks. The «spy poisoning» case, the «Russian cyber-attacks», the aggression of the US, UK and France against Syria (and in defiance of its ally Russia) in retaliation for alleged chemical weapons usage in Douma – all allegations against Russia are pointed at one goal: to create the stereotype of Russia as a “pariah state” with all the consequences, notably to legitimize the breach of the UN Charter on the part of the West.
