Region, accepted as „certain unity in geographical sence or certain group of territories which complete one certain, unique territory, which has habitants specific because of certain common elements that they wish to preserve and develop, in order to assure its own cultural, sopcial and economic development”, is concerned with a lot of challenges that have been given to it acroos the world. Those challenges are: non equality in economic development of regions inside the same state, which leads to polarization and separation of regions,even to making its own states; unsufficient power to rule over all globalization’s processes and especially, over „the nation state”; andproblem taht people can not be more used to idea of „Europe of regions”, instead od „Europe of states”. Nonethe less, regions, regionalization, and regional state are commonly used as possible „third way”, between federations and confederations.
