The leading approach to the problem investigation is determined by the Non-Western ideology or non-Western theories of foreign relations, the Chinese national school in particular. The comparative method made it possible to establish the common and the differences in the main directions of the PRC’s foreign policy from the beginning of the 21st century up to the present day. The analysis shows the fifth generation of leaders has accomplished a conceptual shift in China’s foreign policy. Xi Jinping is establishing new institutions as an alternative to the Western-led global architecture to reflect its impact, ascendancy and normative power.
