This study identifies main development trends in ice propulsion performance of ships of the new millennium. It reviews 153 publications dedicated to propulsion performance of ships in ice. Conclusion. This review confirms that ice propulsion performance of ships remains an important field of studies, first of all, due to introduction of new types of ships intended for frequent navigation in ice, and/or to the extension of the scope of operational ice conditions for ships.
