The aim of the study is to assess the state and substantiate the need for the development of a green economy in the world and in Russia in order to ensure intensification of efforts in the field of environmental protection, taking into account the positive impact on the development of national economies and the solution of social problems. The study made it possible to analyze the existing environmental problems and their impact on national economies, identify the prerequisites for the emergence of green technologies in the economy and the prospects for their implementation in the world and in Russia.
