Summary:The article presents the possibility of modelling the process of turning aluminium alloy 2017. It reports obtained results for the distribution of stress and temperature in the machining zone. Tests for assumed machining parameters were performed on a CNC machine tool. Microscopic photographs of the turned surface are shown. Top surface measurements were taken on a computerize measuring stand including a New Form Talysurf 2D/3D 120 Taylor Hobson profilometer.
