Description
Summary:In this paper I want to analyze the assembly and the different narrative mechanisms of "El astillero" written by Juan Carlos Onetti. With this purpose, in the first point I analyze the different narrative situations which take part in the creation of two contrary worlds, the reality and the phantom world of the "El astillero", always described in an uncertain time. The second part analyses the way that the different narrations are crossed, setting up a discontinuity effect in the narration and the duplicity of the characters. In the third part we can see how, through the different narrative voices, the narrator sets up a story marked by uncertainty and ambiguity. This uncertainty is the reflection of existence, because behind the farce what remains is the trap of existence.
