Summary:This study aimed to quantify and categorize the nursing consultations carried out in a Family Health unit of Atibaia - SP, Brazil. The sample consisted of 78 patients, 31 females and 47 males. The data were grouped according to the type of nursing consultation and categorized as follows: child care, prenatal care, papanicolau, hypertension, diabetes and host. The data revealed that hypertension and diabetes mellitus are the main underlying diseases whose complications are commonly seen at nursing consultation, being extremely important for a better prognosis of the patient, when conducted properly. The effectiveness and professionalism of the nurse in implementing the process of work encourages the emergence of an important relationship with the patient, contributing to the systematization and optimization of care, reducing costs and time.
