Description
Summary:Introduction. There is a wide spectrum of lung diseases which are characterized by hypersecretion. Among the resources available in the market that were developed in order to promote bronchial clearance, devices of oral high frequency oscillation (OHFO) stand out. Objectives. To compare quantitatively and qualitatively the general parameters of Shaker® and "Soprinho" bronchial hygiene devices in healthy subjects. Methods. We selected 20 subjects for evaluation and asked them to use both devices. Measurements of flow and pressure were collected by a system developed for this purpose. Afterward, they answered two questionnaires to assess their perception of use. Results. The mean and standard deviation of the flow values of the Shaker® and the "Soprinho" were 45.8±20.37cm3 and 53±8.16cm3, respectively, and the pressure values were 4.16±1.85cmH2O and 4.82±0.74cmH2O. There was no significant difference between flow values (p=0.09) and pressure values (p=0.09), considering p<0.05, of the devices being evaluated. Conclusion. There is similarity between the two devices, as to flow and pressure.
